In der Reihe „Quellen und Darstellungen zur Zeitgeschichte“ erscheinen seit 1957 Editionen und Monographien. In der Mehrzahl handelt es sich dabei um die Publikation von Forschungsergebnissen, die aus Institutsprojekten hervorgegangen sind.

This series on the dictators of the 20^th century is geared toward a broad readership, and provides information on the century’s horrors and catastrophes, using the examples of the most infamous dictators in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.

This series appears since 1977. It chiefly includes collections of historical sources and inventories, but also features bibliographies, handbooks, and monographs.

Handy, readable, and always at the pulse of the latest research: Schriftenreihe der Vierteljahrshefte für Zeitgeschichte [Publication Series of Contemporary History Quarterly] has been covering the full range of the latest developments in contemporary history since 1961. The series features two peer-reviewed volumes a year, featuring a streamlined format.

This series, published since 1970, includes a wide thematic and methodological range of academic dissertations (mostly doctoral with some habilitation dissertations).

Zeitgeschichte im Gespräch has been existing since 2007. The volumes focus on the particular connection of contemporary history to the present, pursuing the need to understand today’s world with the specific perspective of the historical approach. The volumes of this series particularly seek to explore topics with a high level of current topicality and social relevance.

This series is the continuation of Biographischen Quellen zur deutschen Geschichte nach 1945, which began publication in 1984. The series presents biographical source texts from all areas of contemporary history since 1996.

The Center for Holocaust Studies at the IfZ publishes groundbreaking works on the horrors of the Holocaust. This includes monographs, documentations, and edited collections – all in a variety of languages and with the goal of closely connecting German and international research on the subject.

The Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History’s publications connected to Dokumentation Obersalzberg are integral to the successful work of the historical learning center.
