European Parliamentarianism and the “Neoliberalization” of the EU

Employees (IfZ):  Prof. Dr. Thomas Raithel
Projektinhalt:

The point of departure for this project lies in the question of what role European parliaments played in the dissemination of “neoliberal” concepts and patterns of action since around 1990. This leads, moreover, to the question of why this role was generally so small and why major “neoliberal” undertakings – such as the EU’s Lisbon Strategy in 2000 – unfolded mostly without parliamentary involvement. This study will concentrate both on the European Parliament and selected national parliaments.
