The edition

The edition Die Verfolgung und Ermordung der europäischen Juden durch das nationalsozialistische Deutschland 1933 – 1945 (VEJ / The Persecution and Murder of European Jews by Nazi Germany, 1933–1945 – PMJ) comprises 16 volumes with approx. 5000 documents, contemporary, academically annotated testimonies of the persecuted, perpetrators, and other observers. Following a year-long preparation phase, work on the edition began in 2005, and the last volume is slated for publication in 2020. The work of 26 experts went into the project with an eight-member editorial board providing guidance and deciding on the selection of sources.

Work began on the complete English-language edition in 2014 in cooperation with Yad Vashem and accompanied by an international academic advisory board.

The source edition is of use to all who wish to address the topic of the persecution and murder of European Jews by Nazi Germany with accessible and authentic testimonies, whether as researchers, teachers, or other individuals with an interest in the subject.
