The Sources Speak

The German-language audio edition Die Quellen sprechen is a production of Bayerischer Rundfunk (Bavarian Broadcasting) in cooperation with the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History. Selected documents from the volumes of the VEJ edition are read by actors and eyewitnesses. The eyewitnesses involved in reading the documents are themselves interviewed for the audio edition as well, and report on their experiences of persecution and survival. In another section, VEJ editors and staff members talk about their work, historians of the Holocaust reflect on the importance of the edition, discuss research questions, and provide background information, and the editors of the audio edition offer a glimpse into their project as well.
