Social Commitment

The Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History also provides jobs to people with disabilities. Since December 2010, the IfZ has been cooperating with the Munich-based VSB Verlags- und Sortierbuchbinderei GmbH, a subsidiary of the Pfennigparade Foundation [March of Dimes Munich], with three of its employees now working permanently at external workplaces located at the Institute. Their tasks include preparing documents for digitization by foliation (numbering by hand) and the digitization of archived documents according to ISO standards. These staff members also take part in Institute events and outings.

As a non-profit organization, the Pfennigparade Foundation supports people who require special assistance due to their physical disabilities. In addition to the VSB workshop, they also work on location at the customer’s premises, with their activities in the archives of the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History seen as a successful pilot project.
