Germany and the Soviet Union, 1933-1941: Documents from Russian and German Archives

These volumes on “Germany and the Soviet Union, 1933–1941: Documents from Russian and German Archives” are being edited on behalf of the Joint Commission for the Study of the Recent History of German-Russian Relations.

Relations between Germany and the Soviet Union from Hitler’s rise to power in 1933 to the invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 had a great impact, especially on 20th-century European history. This four-volume edition is a German-Russian joint project on behalf of the Joint Commission for the Study of the Recent History of German-Russian Relations, and opens up new insights into the era. The edition includes previously unpublished sources from a number of German and Russian archives in addition to essential documents that have been published previously. It takes into account not only diplomatic but also economic, military, cultural, and academic contacts. This unprecedented collection of documents includes sources that have previously been difficult to access.
