In 2017, the Deutsche Bundesbank commissioned comprehensive resarch on the history of the German central bank from 1924 to 1970. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Magnus Brechtken and Prof. Dr. Albrecht Ritschl, a team of renowned academics examined the history of the Reichsbank as a central bank since the 1920s. The research focused on questions of personnel and conceptual continuity and discontinuity from the caesura of 1945 to the end of the 1960s.
