INFOCOM team member Izabela Paszko stays in the UK for a three-week fellowship at the University of Cambridge

Between September and October 2023, INFOCOM project’s member, Izabela Paszko, had the opportunity to visit and work at the University of Cambridge as a fellow of the collaborative exchange program of the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History and the DAAD Cambridge Research Hub for German Studies.

During this three-week stay, Izabela Paszko benefited from access to the rich resources at the University of Cambridge and involvement in the intellectual life of the city. She enjoyed contact with the British and international academic community by attending lectures and events organised by the university. This included an evening guest lecture at Peterhouse College and a seminar “Modern Europe 1789-1914”. During her stay, Izabela Paszko gave two talks at the East European History Workshop and the Cultural History Workshop, where she presented her PhD project. Besides participating in a rich and intellectually stimulating offer of seminars and workshops, Izabela Paszko took advantage of the splendid collections of local libraries, namely the Cambridge University Library, the Seeley Library and the Haddon Library. All of them provided excellent workspace and access to plenteous books and online resources that were useful for preparing her thesis defence.

Aside from the research in the libraries and taking part in academic events, Izabela Paszko could enjoy all facets of Cambridge by visiting many of its colleges, such as Trinity Hall, St. John’s College and Selwyn College. She also explored possibilities for a future career and discussed Postdoc opportunities with British historians.
